MiraCosta has in place a comprehensive set of Design and Construction Standards to serve as a guideline for ensuring each project meets the district’s standards for new construction as well as renovation and modernization projects.
The minimum criteria for establishment of these standards are:
- Quality
- Maintenance
- Cost
- Location
- Energy Efficiency
- Life Cycle Costs
- Safety
The district’s Facilities Master Plan addresses overall design intent for the MiraCosta campuses. It is recommended that this plan is referenced for design implementation criteria. These documents include:
- MiraCosta College Facilities Master Plan (FMP)
- Sustainability Goals & Guidelines
- Technology Guidelines
- Utilities and Infrastructure Drawings
- Space & Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) Standards
The project team for the development of theses standards included representatives from the colleges and the district, along with MiraCosta’s construction management consultant, and architects and consulting engineers retained by MiraCosta to assist with this effort.
It is the district intention that the standards will be applied to all new projects as all as all modernization and renovation projects.
