Resources and Referrals
We encourage students to reach out for support in navigating the many resources that are available on campus, remotely, and in our community. If students cannot find the information to resources that they need on our website, the best way to get connected to receive individualized campus and/or community referrals based on your current circumstances and needs is by submitting a CARE Referral Form.
CARE Resource Guide for Basic Needs & 2-1-1
The CARE Resource Guide for Basic Needs is available to locate community resources that will support with various basic needs such as housing, food, transportation, childcare, and financial insecurity.
When the CARE Program or it’s team members are unavailable, students may dial 2-1-1 to speak with a trained live operator to review San Diego County resources or by visiting 2-1-1 San Diego to search for available resources.
Student Health Services
With so many variables and demands in college, it’s common for students to feel anxiety, depression, or even suicidal thoughts when you're unsure of how to handle a situation. Additionally, strained physical health may hinder ones ability to focus on school. Physical health and mental health questions or concerns can be addressed by Student Health Services. Seek support by using the following services on campus:
Mental Health Counseling & Medical Appointments
Student Health Services offers free and confidential counseling at the Oceanside and San Elijo campuses in addition to medical appointments with registered nurses and our campus nurse practitioner. Homelessness & Housing Insecurity
Did you know a recent study by THE HOPE CENTER (2021) showed that 48% face issues with housing insecurity, and 14% are affected by homelessness? The MiraCosta College CARE team can support you locate shelters and other transitional housing resources to address homelessness and housing insecurity. The CARE Basic Needs Resource Guide and 2-1-1 San Diego are also available to help you locate local resources related to homelessness and housing insecurity. Here are some additional support services on campus while navigating housing insecurity and homelessness:
Showers, Laundry, and Hygiene Kits
Showers
Showers are available in the lockers in the gym (OC5222) close to the track and field on the Oceanside Main Campus (1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA, 92056). Students do not need to check in to access the showers, but will need to bring their own hygiene items. Click here for hours and additional information.
Laundry
Currently enrolled MiraCosta students experiencing housing insecurity can access the laundry room in the gym (OC5200) by checking in with the Athletic's staff in the lobby of the building. Once students check in with their student ID number, staff will walk them over to open the laundry room to wash and dry one load of laundry. Click here for hours and additional information.
Hygiene Kits
Toiletries (gender neutral and specific) such as shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and razors (availability may vary) and menstrual hygiene products are accessible to students in the campus food pantries (see locations/hours on our three campuses).

Transportation
If you have transportation concerns, please complete a Transportation Assistance Request to request transportation support (gas card, bus pass and/or Uber Discount Program) once per semester. View the above flyer for more information about transportation support resources.
Bus Pass
If you're requesting a bus pass, you will need to send a picture or screenshot of your virtual or physical Pronto card to care@miracosta.edu. If you don't have a Pronto card, you can create a virtual card on the Pronto application. Click here for instructions on how to create a virtual Pronto card.
Additionally, discounted adult monthly bus passes are sold at the Cashier's Office to students currenty enrolled in classes. Please visit the Cashier's Office website or call them at 760.795.6835 to get more about purchasing a Pronto Pass at a discounted rate.
Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Assault, Title IX & Discrimination
If you feel that you've been subjected to sexual harassment, misconduct, or discrimination, MiraCosta has crisis resources available that can help you. Contact the Title IX Coordinator to file a complaint, learn more about the support services MiraCosta has to offer, or get connected to community resources.

Undocumented and Mixed-Status Student Support
The UPRISE (Undocumented People Rise in Solidarity and Empowerment) program offers free and confidential access to immigration legal services, academic counseling, internships and other support services. Immigration Legal Consultations
- UPRISE offers free immigration legal consultations for undocumented and mixed-status students through Jewish Family Services Higher Education Legal Services. Appointments are available at the Oceanside Campus(1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA, 92056), Community Learning Center (1831 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92058) or virtually. Schedule an appointment now.

Financial Support
The Financial Aid Office offers a variety of FREE workshops, scholarship opportunities and events designed to give you tools to manage your finances. For more information about financial aid or to check who your assigned financial aid technician is, email MCCFinAid@miracosta.edu or call 760.795.6711.
Applying for Financial Aid
The Financial Aid Office also offers assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA). All students who complete a financial aid application will automatically be awarded a fee deferment. You can check your fee deferment status in SURF. The California College Promise Grant (CCPG) waives the $46/unit enrollment fee for eligible students. To apply for the CCPG you must complete the FAFSA or CADAA. Eligible students will be notified through their financial aid award letter.
Scholarships
The MiraCosta Scholarship Office assists students with internal and external scholarship applications and awards. The purpose of the Scholarship Office is to serve as a primary resource for students to apply for scholarships and obtain additional financial aid that can help students reduce financial burden and achieve academic success.

CalFresh Resources
CalFresh (federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) provides monthly food benefits to income-qualifying families and students. Eligible individuals receive free money for food. Students who are interested in finding out more information about this resource can contact the CARE Program. The CARE Team will identify a designated staff to assist students with application intake or a referral to a community provider who can provide application assistance. Students can also apply directly at www.getcalfresh.org.
