The UCLA Transfer Alliance Program allows you to enhance your ability to transfer to UCLA at the junior level from a participating California community college. Students are certified by the honors program counselor/coordinator after completing the honors or scholars program at a participating community college. Applicants are given priority consideration for admission to majors in the College, as well as the Public Affairs and Education and Social Transformation majors at UCLA.

How the Transfer Alliance Program Works with Alternate Majors
UCLA does not review non-Transfer Alliance Program applicants for admission to alternate majors. If you’re a UCLA TAP certified participant who is not selected for admission to your first-choice major, UCLA will also review your application for an alternate major in the College (Previously "College of Letters and Science").

How do I become UCLA TAP certified at MiraCosta College?
- Minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA in degree applicable coursework
- Completion of 15 units of honors coursework
- Up to two honors courses may be taken Pass/No Pass
- Up to two honors courses from other colleges may be included in unit count
- Enrollment in honors courses for two semesters at MiraCosta College
- Have a TAP-focused education plan on file with the MiraCosta College Transfer Center
- Demonstrate responsible and ethical behavior (see the MiraCosta College Catalog for Standards of Student Conduct)
- Submit a UCLA TAP certification request form in January prior to fall admission.
- E-forms become available in January and are submitted online directly to the Transfer Center.
What does UCLA Undergraduate Admission look at when reviewing applications for admission?
- Completion of major preparatory coursework
- Strength of GPA relative to the major
- Strength of major preparation

Strong academic preparation and performance make you a more competitive candidate for admission to UCLA. The average GPA of admitted transfer students is above 3.5. You should complete as many major preparatory courses as possible by the end of the spring term prior to transfer based on the availability of the courses at your current school and/or local schools.
The most competitive applicants for some highly selective majors (e.g. Business Economics, Economics, and Psychology) will have completed all major preparation requirements by the end of the last fall term prior to transfer.
