‘Jim’ Gonzales Emerging Leader Scholarship
Reflecting the genuine care and commitment that former director of Student Life & Leadership Jim Gonzales inspired during his 27 years at MiraCosta College, the recipients for this award share a motivation for empowering themselves and others to embrace and activate their own leadership strengths. Founder of the Student Life & Leadership Emerging Leaders Institute, Jim set a foundation for cultivating student leaders for years to come. This scholarship is awarded to a student who also demonstrates leadership and a desire to cultivate change within their community. Applications should demonstrate the nominee’s commitment to the following: community, civic engagement, advocacy, and leadership development. A personal statement is required.

Associated Student Government & Inter-Club Council Sponsored Scholarships
ASG/ ICC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship
The Associated Student Government (ASG) and the Inter-Club Council (ICC) created this merit-based scholarship to serve our disproportionately impacted student population as informed by the college’s student equity plan data. This is merit based scholarship considers lived experiences, extracurriculars (club involvement and leadership), disproportionate impact, experience as a historically underserved student, and course load etc. Applicants must be currently enrolled students at MiraCosta College (Oceanside Campus, San Elijo Campus, Community Learning Center). A personal statement is required.

ASG/ ICC Black and African-American Scholarship
The Associated Student Government (ASG) and the Inter-Club Council (ICC) created this scholarship as an equitable opportunity for MiraCosta College students, particularly those who identify as Black or African American, as a means to provide opportunity for individuals who represent these identities. This is merit based scholarship considers lived experiences, advocacy within the Black/African American community, extracurriculars (club involvement and leadership), disproportionate impact, experience as a historically underserved student, and course load etc. Applicants must be currently enrolled students at MiraCosta College (Oceanside Campus, San Elijo Campus, Community Learning Center).
