Sou Lackkaty
Sou Lackkaty started her schooling in RoiEt, Thailand and continued her education in the United States. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University and a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University in Linguistics with emphasis in TESOL. In 2005, Sou went to Chile as a Fulbright Fellow and worked with the Universidad de Atacama.
Sou considers herself a cosmopolite or a citizen of the world. She enjoys learning and teaching languages. She speaks, reads, and writes five languages. Sou has taught College Composition and other ESL subjects with MiraCosta College for over 16 years. But her teaching career began almost three decades ago, with teaching experience at the San Diego Community College District; The Northern Jiaotong University in Beijing, China; Ohio University in Athens, Ohio; and Universidad de Atacama in Copiapo, Chile.
Besides her love for teaching, her curiosity for learning has moved her around the world where she has lived in three different continents and five different countries. She also travels as much as possible to explore new cities around the world. Traveling or exploring is a way for Sou to connect to peoples, places, cultures, and customs like white water rafting in Santiago de Chile, enjoying gelato in Milan, or shopping in Tokyo.
Sou hopes to continue her lifelong dream job as a teacher who shares her love of learning with her students. And she hopes to inspire them to have curiosity to explore their world in order to make mutually rewarding connections with other citizens of the world.
