Eliza (Liza) Rabinovich
Liza Rabinovich was born in Latvia (former USSR) and immigrated to San Diego when she was three years old. Throughout her grade school and high school education, she developed a love of language, culture, and studying effective ways people can learn. She earned a BA in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego, then went on to earn her M.Ed. in TESOL Literacy and Culture from the University of San Diego. At USD, Liza was able to further her studies and put her passion into practice by working with students from all over the world.
Since 2017, Liza has taught in districts all over San Diego County and started teaching at MiraCosta in early 2018. Recently, she has become part of a state-wide assessment coordinator group that hosts weekly workshops surrounding best practices for equity and assessment. In the classroom, she empowers students to get deeper, more meaningful learning with course materials by helping them develop a stronger command of the English language and critical thinking. She creates a safe space in order for students to be able to share their unique experiences, voices, and knowledge.
Beyond the classroom, Liza loves to travel and learn about different cultures and languages. She is also fluent in Russian and ASL and is learning Spanish and French. She loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and new puppy.
